Becoming PINENZ Certified
PINENZ has been established to strengthen consumer confidence in manufactured timber products, benchmark production systems, and position New Zealand finger-jointed products as product of choice in the Australasian market. AsureQuality and the PMA are joint-owners of the scheme. AsureQuality maintains the register of organisations that belong to the scheme.
Pinenz Governance
The Pine Manufacturers Association (PMA) support this programme with governance of the programme, committee support, by running an update programme for members when standards are amended or changed, and by controlling the use of the PINENZ Mark.
To ensure that PINENZ continues to meet industry requirements, an advisory committee comprising representatives who have a vested interest in maintaining, and improving, the quality of manufactured timber product has been established.
Compliance to industry standards
PINENZ has, in conjunction with industry representatives, adopted the following standards as the benchmark against which organisations, wishing to be certified, will be audited:
- AS 5067 – Non Structural Glue Laminated Timber
- AS 5068 – Finger Joints in Structural Timber
- AS 5069 – Finger Joints in Non Structural Products
- AS/NZ 1328.1 – Glue Laminated Structural Timber
- AS 1604.1 - Specifications for Preservative Treatment – Sawn and Round Timber
- AS 1604.5 - Specifications for Preservative Treatment – Glue Laminated Timber Products
The Finger Joint and Glue Laminate standards do not address environmental and health and safety, if this is required additional standards will be referenced. Plants that also carry out timber treatments will be audited under the AsureQuality Timber Treatment program. If the site wishes to gain certification to both programmes then the two audits may be combined and carried out in one visit.
